Shaping the future, together

Reflection

Dental providers need to reflect on and assess their past progress in order to ensure continued forward motion. That’s exactly what Colosseum Dental did at its recent internal conference, which practice teams attended to get up-to-date with recent business activity.

Throughout the morning sessions, all speakers highlighted the massive journey the group has been on in the past year. Philip Buergin – UK CEO – commented that, “One thing is for sure – this is not the beginning of the end”. He was clear that change will continue across the group in order to achieve the highest possible standards of clinical care and the best opportunities for professionals. Philip stated that, “At Colosseum Dental, we’re all about our people”.

If you can dream it, you can do it

Like many of the speakers after him, Philip encouraged individuals to engage with the management teams and offer their own ideas on how the company could continue to improve. Patrick De Maeseneire – Chairman of Colosseum Dental Group and CEO of Jacobs Holding AG – built on this by sharing the group’s global aim to be the best dental provider. Quoting Disney’s “If you can dream it, you can do it”, he urged people to get involved and help make the business a great place for them to work. During his personal and highly amusing session, Patrick highlighted the amazing work of the Jacobs Holding Foundation and the continued need for education among so much of the global population.

Eddie Coyle – Clinical Director UK – reiterated that patients come first at Colosseum Dental. He discussed what the group was doing to maintain clinical standards, including the introduction of the Clinical Care Board, designed specifically to keep clinical excellence at the forefront. He thanked professionals for their feedback on products as part of the initiative to enhance and streamline solutions used in practice. He also eluded to a new indemnity scheme designed especially for Colosseum Dental dentists, which could offer an array of practical and financial benefits.

We're part of something bigger

Later on, Stefan Nilsson – CEO of Colosseum Dental Group – shared more on the group’s Good Neighbour initiatives and thanked everyone in the room for their help in transforming so many practices over the last 12 months. He also thanked the Conference Headline Sponsor, Henry Schein, for its support of both the group and its charitable work. Bringing the morning to a close, Mike Clare – Chief Operating Officer UK – summarised that, “We’re part of something bigger” and it would be a team effort for the group to achieve everything it had set out to achieve.

Providing further value for delegates, the afternoon provided an opportunity for CPD, with three presentations hosted by Catherine Rutland and Jo Banks from Simplyhealth, and Frank Thiel from Dentsply Sirona.

A visit from Simon Weston CBE

A particular highlight of the afternoon was a very special guest speaker. Simon Weston CBE scarcely needs an introduction, as the brave Falklands veteran has shared his story of physical and mental recovery after surviving a bomb explosion in 1982. His words of wisdom, delivered in his witty, Welsh style, offered delegates plenty of food for thought and without a doubt will have inspired many.

Staff feedback on the day

Talking about the day, Claire Dorsett, dual practice manager, said:

The evening brought with it a chance for professionals to relax and enjoy some time with colleagues.
