Continuing Professional Development

CPD is an integral part of the professional life of all healthcare employees and we think it’s integral to the work that our people do here at Colosseum Dental.

As well as helping to maintain and update existing skills and knowledge, CPD ensures good quality, evidence-based care for our patients and helps to maintain the public’s trust in healthcare professionals across the industry.

Colosseum Training Academy

At Colosseum Dental, we’ve created a dedicated training academy for our employee’s professional development. This is a structured programme designed to meet the CPD requirements of all our staff.  It includes regional CPD events, annual conference, clinically-led ‘Lunch and Learn’ events as well as peer-led events.

As we’re sure you’re aware the current requirements of the General Dental Council (GDC) are that Dentists much complete a minimum of 100 hours of verifiable CPD over their five-year cycle. This is alongside a Personal Development Plan (PDP) and other evidence of CPD activity. Nurses must complete 50 hours, and Dental Hygienists require 75 hours.

We support our staff every step of the way with CPD through our training academy. We are seeking to provide between 8-12 hours of CPD annually which will enhance your current knowledge and skill set and support your regulatory requirements. We also see CPD as key to improving patient care and the training is provided at no cost to our staff.​

Not just for Dentists

We develop all our staff. Alongside training our Nurses to qualify through our learning partner Tempdent, we also offer the opportunity to become a floating nurse (covering a cluster of Practices) and the development and support to become a Lead Nurse.  Post-graduation, Nurses will be offered the chance to attend CPD on a range of topics including Fluoride application, Impression taking, Sedation, Radiology and Implants training.

Our Practice Managers also have their own Practice Manager development programme and Receptionists are given all the customer service development to make sure our patients get an excellent experience at our practices
