Richard Hopkins

Richard hails from the South Wales valleys and previously served with the Royal Air Force for 15 years.

Richard graduated from the University of Wales College of Medicine in 2003, and has been a full time Hygienist at the Portland Street Dental and Implant Clinic for the past 18 years. He actively pursues continuous professional development.

Richard prides himself on making his patients feel at ease. He reassures his patients with his calm and confident approach to ensure a positive experience. His chair-side manner brings his patients back time and again to Portland Street Clinic for their treatment.

Richard enjoys mountaineering, angling, motorcycle touring and has an interest in local history.

Ciprian joined our team at Portland Street Dental and Implant practice in 2021, bringing with him a wealth of knowledge and expertise amassed over more than 30 years of clinical research and scientific teaching. His passion for dentistry is evident in his keen interest in the intersection of technology and oral healthcare, particularly in the realm of AI application in dentistry.
 
With a specialised focus on restorative and cosmetic dentistry, Ciprian offers our patients a range of treatments, including composite bonding.
 
Outside of the clinic, Ciprian's pursuits reflect a range of interests! He thoroughly enjoys history, languages, and literature, alongside Formula 1 and tennis. Additionally, he finds joy in travelling and enjoying quality time with loved ones.

 Alun qualified from the University of Bristol in 2000 and went onto complete his vocational training at Portland Street Dental Practice where he has been an Associate dentist for twenty years.

Alun has built a great reputation in the area, which is proven by the regular attendance of his patients that return year on year.

Alun enjoys a wide range of outdoor activities in his spare time, most recently having completed a Hill and Moorland Leadership qualification. He enjoys travelling with his family and exploring on his motorbike.

Greta qualified in 2001 as a dental hygienist and has been treating patients with routine plaque removal and periodontal cases since her qualification; and offers referrals via direct access for those that are unable to access care. She is certified in Guided Biofilm Therapy, a Swiss technique that provides teeth cleaning without the need for traditional planing and scaling. She is also trained in hand instrumentation techniques and treatment of complex periodontal cases using local anaesthesia.

Greta provides a holistic service when it comes to healthcare, as she is also a nutrition and exercise coach, with a specialist interest in young athlete health, exercise as medicine and has a knowledge of low energy availability, disordered eating and hormone and bone health, to name but a few. Outside of Dentistry, Greta is also a sports nutritionist, and regularly assists athletes with their preparation for events such as marathons and Iron Mans. 

Most of all, Greta loves helping people to achieve their goals and become the best version of themselves.  

Outside of work, Greta can be seen wearing a tutu as she completes her work as the Aber Tooth Fairy to support the sporting & exercise community with her famous ‘Performance Basket’ of goodies! She regularly runs and goes for walks in the wild, and she enjoys Welsh Sea Rowing where she is currently the secretary of the club.

 Dr Blaga Rukova qualified in 2001 in Sofia, Bulgaria, and went on to work as a general practitioner in Bulgaria for 10 years. She moved to Aberystwyth, Wales in 2010 and has been a long-standing general dental practitioner for the past 13 years. Alongside her day-to-day dental work, Blaga has shared her knowledge through her work as a mentor across various dental practices for the last 11 years. She joined us at Portland Street Dental Practice in 2021.

Blaga is a kind-hearted, warm, and caring practitioner – she’s very passionate about giving patients their dream smile, whether it be for general dentistry or for cosmetic treatments such as clear aligners or composite bonding, both of which she specialises in.

Outside of work, Blaga enjoys yoga, kettlebell workouts and is a volunteer for her local swimming club as a poolside helper.

Andrea is a Senior Dental Nurse at Portland Street Dental & Implant Centre and has been a valued part of our team for the last 21 years.

Andrea is a warm, welcoming Dental Nurse who cares greatly about our patients’ wellbeing. She enjoys her patient facing role and is looking forward to starting oral health and fluoride application sessions at the practice.

Outside of work, Andrea enjoys being out in the fresh air and is the Secretary of her local Show Committee.

She is a Welsh speaker.

Bethan is our Lead Nurse at Portland Street Dental & Implant Centre and has been a valued part of our team for the last 20 years.
 
As our Lead Nurse, Bethan ensures the smooth operation of daily clinical activities while ensuring adherence to regulatory standards; alongside mentoring our trainee nurses, and ensuring our practice is well stocked and running smoothy through each appointment. 

Outside of work, Bethan enjoys a range of activities, including walking, paddleboarding, going camping in her Tent Box and spending time with her family. Bethan has a daughter who keeps her very busy!

 In 2009, Jakub graduated from the Medical University in Wroclaw, Poland.

Jakub re-located to the UK, where he started working as a dentist providing both NHS and private treatments. In 2011, Jakub enrolled in an advanced diploma in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Central Lancashire. In 2017, Jakub enrolled in a certificate in periodontology in Manchester, and has recently completed a master’s degree programme in implant dentistry.

Jakub has a particular interest in oral surgery, periodontology prosthodontics and implant dentistry.
Outside of dentistry Jakub enjoys drawing, painting, photography, surfing and mountain biking.

Ceri is a Senior Nurse at Portland Street Dental & Implant Practice. She joined us over 15 years ago, and continues to be a valued, engaging, and friendly member of our team.

Ceri’s role includes vital activities that support our dentists, such as digital scanning, dental photography and taking impressions for treatments – and she’s also our Radiation Protection Supervisor. She loves meeting new patients, and also enjoys taking part in ClearCorrect and composite bonding so she can see the difference in the patient’s smile, before and after.

Outside of work, Ceri enjoys being with her family, including watching her boys play football. She’s also a rugby fan and enjoys active time out for scenic walks or time at home testing new baking recipes with her family!

Ceri is a Welsh speaker.

Claire is our Lead Receptionist at Portland Street Dental & Implant Practice, and she’s been with us for more than 25 years.

As part of the practice leadership team, Claire is a respected team member and takes on several additional responsibilities alongside her role on reception. She is a fantastic team player, and loves interacting with our patients – Claire is one of the bright, cheerful and welcoming faces you’ll see when you first visit our practice!

Outside of work, Claire enjoys reading. She’s also Secretary of Borth United FC, so she spends most of her Saturdays on the sidelines!

Emma has been the Practice Manager at Portland Street Dental & Implant Practice for over 7 years, and she loves her role. She’s particularly proud of the open, friendly culture within the practice and their ability to provide their patients with the best care and experience possible.

Outside of work, Emma enjoys walking, mountaineering and camping – she’s very good at map reading! To relax, Emma takes time out watching cheesy (preferably 80s) movies, and trying out new recipes – she can often be found with her favourite music on, batch cooking for the day! Emma and her husband also have a chocolate lab, who is the centre of their universe.

Emma is currently learning Welsh.

Georgina graduated from Cardiff Dental School in 2015, gaining honours in her final year examination. Following further study and examination Georgina was awarded Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgeons by the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh. Georgina completed a year as an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr Tydfil.

Georgina enjoys all aspects of general dentistry and takes a particular interest in endodontic (root canal) treatment and is due to complete her Master’s in Clinical Endodontics from the University of South Wales shortly. Georgina prides herself in her gentle approach to treatments in order to put her patients at ease on the dental chair.

Outside of dentistry, Georgina enjoys spending time with her family and her son. She also enjoys playing netball, watching sport and reading.

Originally from Swansea, Elisha is a new, valued addition to the team at Portland Street Dental & Implant Practice, as a dental Nurse.

She enjoys the rewarding nature of her role and meeting new patients every day. She has a keen interest in dental hygiene.

Outside of the practice, Elisha enjoys spending days out with her son and her dog Syd. They regularly go on woodland walks and find muddy puddles to splash in, and they love taking their adventures to new places.

Elisha is currently learning to speak Welsh, along with her son.

Julie has been a valued member of the team at Portland Street Dental & Implant Practice for 6+ years, as a Dental Nurse.

She has proven to be an excellent problem solver and is always willing to go above and beyond for her colleagues. She enjoys assisting in RCT treatments, and in crown preparation and fittings.

Outside of the practice, Julie enjoys reading and testing her brain with Sudokus and jigsaw puzzles. She enjoys time with her family and socialising with friends, and she’s also very active; often hiking, walking with her dog, and having dance parties with her girls at home!

Kelly has been a vital member of our front of house team on Reception at Portland Street Dental & Implant Practice for over 7 years.

She enjoys meeting and chatting with people from all backgrounds, and is a friendly, cheerful face at the practice.

Outside of the practice, Kelly enjoys reading, walking and socialising with friends – and also watching horror movies!

Qualified Dental Nurse / Radiography Nurse

Nerys has been one of our fantastic Dental Nurses at Portland Street Dental & Implant Practice for over 6 years. She is a qualified Nurse, in both general dentistry and Radiology.

Nerys enjoys all aspects of her role, from communicating with patients to nursing a range of different treatments. However, she finds most joy in working with the fantastic team at Portland Street Dental & Implant Practice, who always maker her smile.

Outside of the practice, Nerys enjoys baking, walking, and spending time with her family. She’s a movie fanatic and enjoys time out gaming on her PlayStation or Nintendo Switch. She also enjoys perusing fine art!

Nia is a new addition to the team at Portland Street Dental & Implant Practice. She is currently undergoing training as a Trainee Dental Nurse, and is thoroughly enjoying learning about the exciting range of treatments and procedures – both clinical and administrative – in the dental industry.

Outside of the practice, Nia enjoys motorsport – both Formula 1 and rallying; and is currently training to be an adult instructor in the army cadets. Nia also collects rubber ducks!

Sara is a Qualified Dental Nurse and Patient Care Coordinator at Portland Street Dental & Implant Practice. She has been with us for over 5 years and is a key link with our patients to ensure they’re kept informed on their treatment plans.

Sara thoroughly enjoys all aspects of Cosmetic Dentistry – including Implants, ClearCorrect, Composite Bonding, Whitening and Guided Biofilm Therapy as she loves to see the patients satisfaction and joy with the end result.

She loves meeting new patients and enjoys being a great help to those that require additional information, and to answer any questions around their treatment plans.

She also helps the practice in external events, such as organising Wedding Fayre stands, Smile Events and promoting the services at our fantastic dental practice.

Outside of the practice, Sara enjoys walking with her husband and spending time with her family – she has 2 sons and 4 grandchildren so they’re kept very busy! She also enjoys running and is part of her local running club. Previously, she has completed 10k runs, half and full marathons representing the club.

Sarah is one of our Dental Nurses at Portland Street Dental & Implant Practice, and she is a long-standing member of the community, with over 17 years of service at the practice.

Sarah enjoys nursing complex fillings, crowns, and bridges. Along with Sarah’s clinical knowledge, her infectious personality allows for an enjoyable patient experience – she is known to have a chat and a giggle with patients to ensure they’re at ease

Outside of the practice, Sarah enjoys tending to her garden, where she has flowers and vegetables. She loves going out for meals and catching up with friends over dinner and drinks; and seeing her godchildren.

Christina is one of our Qualified Dental Nurses at Portland Street Dental & Implant Practice. She has been a valued member of our team for over 14 years, and thoroughly enjoys talking to her patients and giving them the care they need whilst in her surgery. Her special interests include implants and minor oral surgery.

Outside of the practice, Christina has 3 children that keep her very busy, and she enjoys hiking with her husband and dog when the kids are at school. Alongside some of her Portland Street colleagues, Christina recently completed the Welsh 3 peaks challenge, raising money for Ty Hafan Hospice.

Dr Anna-Maria Ceglarek graduated from Wroclaw Medical University in 2016.  

Anna-Maria is passionate about dentistry and shows this by providing trust, and prioritising her patients to ensure they feel comfortable during treatment. She is friendly, welcoming, and is especially good with anxious patients.  

Anna-Maria has special interests in periodontology, oral surgery and cosmetic dentistry. She completed a course in Botox in 2021 at Derma London Institue. Anna-Maria also particularly enjoys ‘Smile Makeovers’ to help give her patients confidence in their smile.  

Outside of dentistry, Anna-Maria enjoys the beach, music, bonfires, boxing exercises and spending time with her family.  

Millie has recently joined the team at Portland Street Dental & Implant Practice as a Trainee Dental Nurse. Millie is excited to have the opportunity to start her career within the dental industry and is looking forward to what the future brings in her job role. 

In her spare time, Millie enjoys the beach, shopping, travelling, reading crime books and going for coffee and brunch with her family. She can also communicate in Welsh!
