Jonathan graduated from the University of Leeds before completing a three-year commission as a Dental Officer in the Army. He went on to own and run his own dental practice for 15 years. Alongside this, he lead the Oral Surgery referral service for Stockport NHS.

A Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, Jonathan brings extensive experience and a particular passion for Cosmetic Restorative Dentistry, Implantology and complex restorative treatment.

He is especially interested in bridgework and in helping patients preserve both their natural teeth and long-term oral and bone health. Where teeth are missing, he has a strong interest in implant dentistry and providing carefully planned, long-lasting solutions.

Jonathan takes pride in combining his wealth of clinical experience with a considered, patient-centered approach, always aiming to achieve excellent functional and aesthetic results.

Outside of dentistry, Jonathan enjoys an active outdoor lifestyle. He is passionate about outdoor swimming - even throughout the winter months - as well as horse riding and cycling.

Sally-Ann qualified from Manchester University Dental Hospital in 1987, where, during her final year, she undertook an elective in molar root canal treatment.

Following qualification, she worked in a busy city-centre dental practice in Manchester before relocating to Knutsford. Sally-Ann has developed a particular interest in orthodontics and undertook two years of additional training at Withington Hospital, gaining valuable hands-on experience in the provision of both fixed and removable orthodontic appliances. She is also experienced in providing Invisalign clear aligner treatment.

Outside dentistry, Sally-Ann enjoys spending time with her family and taking long walks in the countryside with her dogs.

Dr Alastair Kennedy joined Gaskell Avenue Dental Practice in 1988 and became a partner shortly afterwards. With almost four decades of experience in dentistry, Alastair has developed particular interests in orthodontics, aesthetic dentistry and implant dentistry.

He has maintained a longstanding interest in orthodontics, initially using traditional fixed appliances before increasingly embracing modern aesthetic solutions. Over the past decade, he has focused extensively on Invisalign and other discreet orthodontic systems. Alastair also has considerable experience in aesthetic restorative dentistry and tooth whitening, helping patients achieve natural-looking, confident smiles.

Between 2002 and 2003, Alastair completed the North West Implant Training Course, developing his knowledge and skills in implant dentistry. In 2004, he achieved a Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons, Faculty of General Dental Practitioners.

Outside the practice, Alastair enjoys an active lifestyle. He is a keen hillwalker and road cyclist, and completed the Coast to Coast cycle ride in just two days. He is also a member of a local canoe club and has recently returned to windsurfing, enjoying the sport alongside his two young sons.

Simon has been a valued member of the Gaskell Avenue team for over 35 years. Originally joining the practice as an Associate Dentist, he went on to become a Partner and has enjoyed a long and rewarding career caring for generations of patients.

Following qualification, Simon undertook postgraduate studies in Periodontology and Conservative Dentistry, developing a particular interest in the prevention and long-term maintenance of oral health.

Outside of dentistry, Simon enjoys an active and varied range of interests. He is a keen cyclist and photographer and enjoys walking, birdwatching, astronomy and gardening.

Rob is a dentist with a special interest in periodontics - with a particular interest in the prevention, management and surgical treatment of gum disease. He is passionate about helping patients stabilise periodontal disease, protect their teeth and maintain healthy gums for the long-term.

Rob graduated with a BDS from the University of Manchester in 2016. He gained experience in dental research and undergraduate teaching before working as a private hygienist, treating patients with advanced gum disease and later as an Associate Dentist in NHS practice.

He subsequently completed an MSc in Periodontology at the University of Central Lancashire and is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology. Rob has gained experience in periodontics across a number of practices throughout the UK.

His particular interests include the management of periodontal disease and surgical periodontics, including regenerative and resective procedures, flap surgery, crown lengthening and recession coverage. He enjoys providing tailored treatment to help patients control gum disease and achieve the best possible long-term outcomes.

Outside of dentistry, Rob enjoys walking his corgi and travelling.

Julie has been working as a Dental Hygienist for many years and remains just as passionate about oral health and patient care as she was when she first began her career.

She particularly enjoys helping nervous patients feel more comfortable and confident about visiting the dentist. Julie takes the time to understand each patient’s concerns and enjoys educating them on simple, effective ways to improve and maintain their oral health.

Julie joined Gaskell Avenue in 2025 and has quickly become a much-loved member of the team, building wonderful relationships with both patients and colleagues.

Outside of work, Julie enjoys spending time in the great outdoors, especially walking her two Labradors in the beautiful Lake District.

James qualified as a dentist from the University of Leeds in 2007 and has worked throughout the North West ever since. He joined the practice in 2024.

James has a special interest in Endodontics (root canal treatment) and has developed extensive experience in managing more complex cases, including root canal re-treatments. His aim is to save and preserve natural teeth wherever possible, including teeth that may otherwise require extraction.

He takes a careful and patient-centred approach to treatment, helping patients feel comfortable and informed throughout their care. He is passionate about providing high-quality treatment while ensuring each patient receives personalised care tailored to their individual needs.

Outside of dentistry, James enjoys archery, hockey and running, as well as spending time with his family.

Marcus is a Nigerian-trained dentist with over 10 years of clinical experience before relocating to the UK. He is a GDC-registered Dental Hygienist and Dental Therapist, with a strong interest in preventive dentistry, periodontal health and helping patients achieve and maintain healthy smiles.

He takes a compassionate, patient-centered approach to care, combining clinical expertise with clear, practical advice. Marcus is passionate about empowering patients with the knowledge and tools they need to improve their oral health and support their overall wellbeing.

He particularly enjoys helping patients understand the importance of good oral hygiene and prevention, and takes the time to ensure every patient feels comfortable, informed and confident about their care.

Dr Lawrence Quirk joined the practice in 2025, bringing a friendly and patient-focused approach to dentistry.

He enjoys providing personalised care and helping patients feel comfortable, informed and confident throughout their treatment. 

He takes the time to listen to each patient’s needs and works with them to achieve healthy, natural-looking results.

Lawrence is an Invisalign clinician and has a particular interest in developing his skills in oral surgery. He has completed an Oral Surgery Course with Dr Chris Waith and continues to expand his experience in this area.

Outside of dentistry, Lawrence enjoys spending time with his partner, Matthew, and their golden retriever, Nellie. They love getting outdoors together and exploring Tatton Park, where Nellie can often be found enjoying a swim!

Karen qualified from Liverpool Dental School in 2000 and has over 25 years of experience in dentistry. She is passionate about helping patients maintain healthy gums and teeth, with a particular focus on the prevention and treatment of gum disease.

Dedicated to patient education, Karen takes the time to provide personalised advice and practical guidance to help patients develop and maintain excellent oral hygiene habits.

Her friendly and approachable nature means she builds a great rapport with her patients and is particularly skilled at helping nervous patients feel relaxed and at ease.

Alongside her dental hygiene qualifications, Karen is qualified in teeth whitening and facial aesthetic procedures. As a Facial Aesthetics Practitioner, she is passionate about helping patients feel confident in their appearance, taking a subtle and natural approach to enhance their individual features.

Outside of work, Karen enjoys mountain biking with her family and taking long walks with her dogs.

Dr Jonathon Tagger has been apart of the practice since 2021 and is passionate about helping patients achieve happy, healthy smiles.

Jon has a particular passion for clear aligner treatment and enjoys helping patients transform their smiles using the latest orthodontic technology. He takes a personalised approach to treatment, ensuring patients feel informed, comfortable and confident throughout their smile journey.

Outside of dentistry, Jon enjoys spending time with his family, discovering great food and, unsurprisingly, talking about all things football.
