Financing & Payment Options

Let's keep things simple.

Detailed below are the various payment options. From the NHS fee structure to a quick and easy options to spread the cost of your treatment(s).

NHS Dental Charges

The charge you pay depends on the treatment you need to keep your mouth and gums healthy. You will only ever be asked to pay one charge for each complete course of treatment, even if you need to visit the dentist more than once to finish it. There are 3 bands of treatment plan under the NHS [see below].

Urgent Band: This band covers urgent assessment and specified urgent treatments such as pain relief or a temporary filling or dental appliance repair.

Cost: £25.80

Cosmetic treatments, including treatments such as veneers, braces and teeth whitening are not available on the NHS unless there is a clear dental health need for them. This includes common treatments such as white fillings. If you are unsure whether a treatment is covered by the NHS then chat to your local practice reception team who can let you know.

Band 1:
£25.80

This band includes examination, diagnosis (including radiographs), advice on how to prevent future problems, scale and polish if clinically needed, and preventative care (e.g. applications of fluoride varnish or fissure sealant).

Band 2:
£70.70

This band covers everything listed in band 1, plus any further treatment such as fillings, root canal work or extractions.

Band 3:
£306.80

This band covers everything in bands 1 and 2, plus course of treatment including crowns, dentures, bridges and other laboratory work.

Private Healthcare Plans

If you have private health insurance or are signed up to a policy through your employer, it is worth finding out if your plan includes cashback payments to cover dental care. These can often be used at both NHS and private dentists, depending on the coverage that you have. If you have a policy like this, you can check with them what is covered.

Some policies include payments for routine appointments and money towards other one-off payments depending on the treatment you need.

Here at Colosseum we are able to accept most private health care plans, it’s best to contact your local practice to find out if we work with yours.
