Bridge the gap with a dental bridge
At Colosseum, we understand that you might lose your confidence a little if you’ve lost a tooth. With a bridge, this can be replaced and a new tooth is fitted to ‘bridge the gap’ between the remaining teeth.
Bridges are usually used where one or two teeth are missing, or where missing teeth are on one side of the mouth. As well as replacing the missing tooth, bridges secure the remaining teeth to prevent them drifting out of position. This can cause bite problems and discomfort over time.
Basic bridges are made of metal. For a more natural look, the metal is covered in a thin layer of porcelain which gives a tooth-like look to the bridge. Another option is to have the bridge hand-made by a skilled dental technician using only porcelain. This creates a bridge that is closest to the look of a real tooth.
To start the process of having a bridge created for your teeth, your dentist will make impressions of your teeth. These make a model of your mouth, showing how your teeth fit together, which can be used to design your bridge.
